Collaboration between A.W.M.H Maharashtra and The Dalal Family Foundation USA

Early Intervention Care is a critical requirement for any child with developmental disabilities.  AWMH Maharashtra runs Five Early Intervention & Pre-schooling centres, located near the slum clusters in Mumbai. These centres support children to attain their physical, cognitive and social potential and prepare them for Inclusive education. The Dalal Family Foundation USA is the sponsor for two centres located at Ghatkoper and Khetwadi for poor families. These centres are equipped with latest equipment and have professional staff including Occupational Therapist, Speech therapist, Psychologist, Special Teacher & Behaviour management specialist. Our focus is development of social adaptability, attaining independence in daily living and pre-school education for children with developmental disabilities [Autism/ ASD, Intellectual disabilities, Cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities. Early intervention support is provided to around 75 children on regular basis. In addition, we put special emphasis on training parents & community workers for carrying out home bound plan for children/ families unable to come regularly. We also sensitize Anganwadi sevikas regarding early intervention care and its importance. Needless to mention that support from The Dalal Family Foundation USA is the motivating factor behind this endevour at Ghatkoper and Khetwadi areas.

DFF USA also supports Sports activities to build confidence and social inclusion among the students with special needs. The sponsorship includes a popular T9 Cricket tournament where around 35 special schools and 400 students participate every year. The sports coaching for the students goes on round the year.
